The 2nd SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards are upon us and it’s time for the public to start nominating their favorite gospel artist or group. The Crown Awards are presented by Cell C and World Gospel Powerhouse™, a company established to assist performers and to promote South African gospel music.
This year’s addition reflects the growth in the gospel sector with four new categories added namely: Best Maskandi, Best Pop-Rock, Best R&B /Rap Gospel and Best Engineer.
According to the President of World Gospel PowerHouse, Zanele Mbokazi, “These new categories were added following an outcry from the public and the gospel music artists.”
The 2009 awards will be held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban on the Sunday the 22nd of November, 2009.

I would like to thank God for blessing us with Zanele Mbokazi, the founder of SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards, I feel the Ceremony was well organised and presented. As the President said “Gospel music is different from any other music, it speaks to God”, I agree with his statement. Thank you so much sis Zanele. To all Gospel musicians, you are great guys, I really appreciate what you doing in our lives, you deserve to be celebrated. Sis Veliswa, I was so crossing fingers for you on Sunday my sister, but anyway I want you to know that to God, you are not just one of the nominees but you are already a winner just by touching our lives through your music, uyasibusisa sisi kakhulu. Please keep on working hard and I know one day you will grab that Crown.
Stay blessed, I love you all

i think our Gospel musicians are doing well, its good to sing some of the songs we are used to and also wriye new songs. The likes of Benjamin, Keke and others have proven over and over that its not about a new song but about how the gospel msg has been presanted to us, so Zanele well done Crown gospel awards rocks!
