With an elongated string of acclaimed albums under her belt, ZCC member Winnie Mashaba remains one of the most commercially successful musicians in South Africa. Her performance at the Cell C Gospel Fest left thousands of event-goers gasping for more. I spoke with her immediately after the performance.
Eddie Hatitye: I really enjoyed your performance
Winnie: Thanks Eddie
Eddie: How do you prepare yourself for an event like this?
Winnie: Shows are very important to me, we practice a lot before we come on stage and this mainly involves the songs and choreography.
Eddie: What are you working on at present?
Winnie: I’m busy with rehearsals for my next album right now and I’ll start recording early November.
Eddie: Do you have a title for the new album yet? Tell us more about the album.
Winnie: Well, I don’t have a title yet but this album generally focuses on the youth and I aim to encourage them to pursue their goals because with God everything is possible.
Eddie: Any collaborations on this album?
Winnie: I have collaborated with a lot of musicians before but I feel like I need to do this one alone.
Eddie: Where are you performing next?
Winnie: I have a lot of shows in Botswana and I will soon announce dates for my SA tour.
