With a string of acclaimed hits to his name, I feel honoured to introduce Pastor Benjamin Dube. He has been riding the gospel music rollercoaster for a very long time, becoming a force to be reckoned with in this burgeoning sector. He is an anointed son of God, a pastor by calling who uses his music to bring millions of people closer to the kingdom of God.
Dube was the most nominated musician at the prestigious SABC Gospel Music Awards which happened in Durban last week. He went on to win the Best Artist trophy and the coveted Lifetime Achievers award. Later that night, he joined fellow musicians and gospel music lovers at a glamorous after party where we tracked him down and asked him a few questions.
Q: What’s your impression of the night?
A: For me it’s been an awesome night, especially because I didn’t expect to win the Lifetime Achievers award.
Q: Were you not expecting it?
A: I have done a lot of things in my career that have attracted quite a lot of people, or let me say attention, however I wasn’t expecting it. The fact that I’m still on a journey and still trying to get there is why this award came as such a surprise to me.
Q: And there is still a lot more to do?
A: Yes. There is still a lot to do; you know I am thankful that the Lord gave me the tenacity to go through all the ups and downs in my career. I guess that’s exactly the reason why I won this Lifetime Achievers award – I’m really thankful.

Hey Pastor Benjamin.
You are one of the people that really does music to praise God. We had a chance as Batswana particularly in Francistown to have a show with Benjamin Dube. Oh my God it was so awesome and breathtaking. We danced and found ourselves sweating. It was so nice and really thrilling.
Pastor i really love you as my father and role model. I pray that the Lord will be with you as you will be ministering to people through music. I was so blessed when you said that you do music to praise and glorify God but not to rob people’s money. God is the greatest employer and greatest payer.

I love this man with all of heart. I got a chance of meeting him in Voslo thro my two friend who was playing drums(Thabo) and bass guiter for him.Both guys are from Daveyton.
i am also amusicial playing Piano. In 1997 when i started, i used to practice piano(self taught) with Benji’s song. That’s how i learned.
he is realy my role mordel. I pray God to keep him for a very long time. I am still learning from this man even today.

Mfundisi, I thank God the father ngawe. 2009 wasn’t my good year from july onward. and the september the 5 was one of those days I felt like my clock was stoping to tick, and october the 4th was the day were I questioned God as to why life is so unfair due to what I was going through. THE 9TH OF JANUARY 2010 That was on Saturday morning It was the day I’ve decided to take my life I had I knife and bible in my beg went to a train station called rondebosch that’s in cape town. there is was a place where i’ve told my self that my family will find my cold dead. but God in his silence gently voice spoke to me saying Xolani its not over till I “GOD” say so.
but what you need to do now take sometime off your work and go to Johannesburg, I WILL TELL YOU WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU GET THERE. yes I did as he commanded me. in Johannesburg I live with my brother in Katlehong, while i was in there God said go around look for BENJAMIN DUBE’S church the singer, Since you know its somewhere around Johannesburg. well i did my research, but none of the poeple who about INKONZO KA BENJAMIN, Till I got to the taxi rank esibhehlela e katlehong, Somebody told my that your church is at gold sport false roulas at sosebenza. well i took the taxi to there.
MFUNDINI 14 FEBRUARY 2010 is the day i got revived, there is a song in your song Bow down. well i have that album Kodwa ngelalanga I felt GOD TAKING MY BY HAND THROUGH THAT SONG including other song, well angisasho lutho ngentsumayelo that you deliver that day. in fact from the 7th to the 28 of Feb the sundays I attended the high praise centre my life got a new meaning.

I have to admit with many people here…Pastor despite the controversy that follows you and your wife, you are a true man of God. Your musical gift has touched me through the years, because you sure know how to bring the spirit of God in our midst. I never say no to your music that has a way of healing and giving me a sense of peace. It doesn’t matter what song you sing, but when you do, I just find peace within me. “You Rock”. God gave you not only an anointed voice, but the anointing of the Holy Spirit itself which breaks the yoke. I am proud of you. I thank God for the man you are. ‘Don’t you let the devil come in’ into your personal affairs. Pray for your wife to mature more in the things of God but also continue to pray for your ex-wife whom from an evil force sees the manifestation of God’s divine promises through you and in your successful life. I pray that God strengthens you, helps you and upholds you with His righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). Peace be among you and your loved ones.

With that still gentle voice, God will will show His path of which you must take. Maybe you are going to change your community who knows? Just yield to the voice of God and follow His ways. I wish you all the best. Next time Xolani— do not put your trust in men (mankind-woman or man), but in God. That woman and that friend of yours were your gods, you worshipped them, hence you wanted to to die when you found out the truth. Today I say to you: encourage yourself in the Lord like king David.
