Hettie Brittz, wife of gospel singer Louis Brittz, has forgiven the four men who raped her two weeks ago and wants to help them.
She said this on Tuesday; just hours after two of the men suspected of rapping her and robbing her family were arrested. The singer’s wife was raped on the top floor of a security complex in Centurion while her helpless husband was tied up downstairs. The gang also stole their car, computer and cellphones.
Brittz, who was formerly involved in rehabilitation programmes at the Pretoria Central prison for criminal youths, said she would want to face her attackers and counsel them.
“I would very much like them to become involved in these programmes so that I can look them in the eye one day,” she said in an interview with News24’s Hilda Fourie
“I want to talk to them about the choices they made and how they got to where they are. I do believe these guys can be rehabilitated, but I don’t want them to be walking free in the street,” she added.
Police spokesperson Colette Weilbach said they were still looking for the rest of the gang.
Brittz said she is doing well despite her ordeal.
“I was raped. I know this. I’m at risk of contracting HIV, at great risk, and I realise this. I’m not living in denial because I have nothing to deny,” she said

Hettie, My hart het gebloei vir jou as vrou, maar jy was nie alleen nie God het wag gehou oor Sy Bruid, as ons Christene net eers besef hoe wreed het Hy vir ons gesterf,Sy Bloed vir ons gestort, dan moet ons nooit vra waar was God nie. Ek het julle/jou verhaal die 1ste keer gehoor op Kwela en Rian. Dit het my siel so aangegryp (dit het gevoel of ek nie kan asem kry nie) en my sooo laat skaam kry oor my “patetiese” christenskap! Ek vertel jou storie aan almal wat sug oor die swaarkry in hulle lewe, die wat vra “waar was God toe dit of dat gebeur het, want ek het gebid…” – en wys hulle op alles waarvoor hulle dankbaar kan wees en dat God in beheer is…dat slegte dinge met goeie mense gebeur…maar dat Jesus se liefde jou regop hou en heel maak soos niks anders kan nie!
Hoe meer ek jou getuienis deel – hoe meer raak ek “gemaklik” om van God se Grootheid en Genade te getuig…die opoffering wat Jesus vir ons gedoen het sodat ons die Ewige Lewe kan hê. Jy is amazing!!! en ek wil jou so verskriklik dankie sê dat jy so dapper is om van jou nag van gruwels te praat en dat die Lig van Jesus vir jou geskyn het deur dit alles!
Dankie dat jy my geleer het waaroor christenskap regtig gaan, en hoe belangrik dit is om getuienis te lewer oor Jesus se liefde en die belangrikheid van vergifnis!
