Joyous Celebration launched their new double CD and DVD on 23 March, marking yet another milestone for this record-breaking and enormously popular Gospel group.
Titled ‘Joyous Celebration 14: Life Changing Worship, Live In Bloemfontein’ (Sony SA) and supported by Old Mutual, the CD consists of two discs with a total of 24 tracks, while the accompanying DVD features all of these tracks rendered in Joyous Celebration’s signature scintillating live performance style.
The launch of the renowned Gospel group’s latest release comes just a week after Joyous Celebration scored yet another South African Music Award nod – this time in the categories: Best Duo/Group, Best African Contemporary Gospel & Best Traditional/African Adult Contemporary DVD for the 2009 release ‘Joyous Celebration 13: Live at the Mosaiek Theatre, Johannesburg’.
All bets are on the multi-million selling ensemble taking home the SAMA mid-April 2010 – something they have done many times over, including in 2009 when ‘Joyous Celebration 12’ was named Best African Contemporary Gospel Album at the May event held in Sun City.
As the anticipation around the release of Joyous Celebration 14: Live In Bloemfontein reveals, Joyous Celebration has managed to consistently deliver uplifting, inspiring and simply joyous Gospel music since its formation in 1996.
Much of this has to do with the group’s three founders – Lindelani Mkhize, Jabu Hlongwane and Pastor Mthunzi Namba, a trio of producers, songwriters and artists who are widely recognised as the most gifted individuals working in contemporary Gospel music across the whole sub-continent.
Says Mkhize, “What many people don’t know is that 14 years after we formed this group, the three of us still get an enormous satisfaction from creating each album and live show and discovering the new talent for this amazing choir.”
This time around, ‘Joyous Celebration: Live In Bloemfontein’ was, as its title suggests, recorded in the Free State. “It was in December 2009 that we undertook the recording and the response from the fans in the audience really added something special to this recording,” says Hlongwane.
The reasonably-priced, double CD is produced by Lindelani Mkhize and Nqubeko Mbatha, who was discovered, groomed and trained by Joyous Celebration. The CD also boasts songwriting from a star-cast, which includes some of Joyous Celebration’s founders.
Disc one features 11 Praise and Worship songs including “Give You All the Glory”, “Walk With Me”, “In the Presence of the Lord”, “We Win”, “I’m Yours” and “Ngimi Lapha”. Disc two, meanwhile, has all the ingredients to become a firm favourite for those who love African traditional Gospel music in its most pure form. Among the tracks on the album are “Asikho Isikhali”, “Ngijulise”, “Thula Wazi”, “Noya na”, “Abakholwa kuJesu” and “Big God” which features lyrics and vocals by Uche Agu.
Nigerian Gospel singer, Agu performed the song “My God Is Good” on the ‘Joyous Celebration 13’ album and it rapidly became one of the most popular songs on that album, in the process underscoring Joyous Celebration’s pan-African appeal.
As a companion to the double CD, the ‘Joyous Celebration 14: Live In Bloemfontein’ DVD is everything fans have come to expect from this incredible act: magnificent High Definition quality, wonderful choreography and costuming and beautiful music sung by some of southern Africa’s most gifted.
April to August 2010 sees Joyous Celebration embark on a five city, eight-date national tour, sponsored by Old Mutual. The group will also be undertaking auditions during this period and beyond, cementing its standing as a platform for undiscovered Gospel singers to reach a broader audience and, quite frequently, launch their careers.

I’ve been a fan since the first tour of Joyous Celebration. Fervently I’ve travelled across South Africa pursuing a goal of becoming a singer i Joyous. My first breakthrough was when I was granted the opportunity to tavel with the whole crew to Sun City for the Joyous 11 recording…then Remba Connection Managers ( Mbali Thabethe & Rebs) wh are Joyous Event Managers spotted me and gave me the opportunity of serving as a costume manager for the choir. The following year, I was asked to stand in for the Artist Manager who couldn’t make it to the Eastern Cape. That was a giant step I was offered. Having to manage 36 adults, report to the founders, keep timelines…that went on successfully. The most rewarding for me was when I was assigned to look after the founders wardrobe and valuables (armor bearer).
In Joyous 12 Tour I was given another function of being a merchandiser for Joyuous…till Joyous 13 recording. In 2009 I was called by Pastor Jabu Hlongwane who has been the man I look up to, he asked me to join them at the rehearsals for the recording of Joyous 14….NOW I’M A JOYOUS CELEBRATION SINGER!!!!

i am addicted to joyous celebration ministerations.
they are ministers of the gospel via song not entertainers because their songs has God backing.
i am a nigerian ,i live in nigeria,i dont understand any of the south african language but am being ministered to where i listen to each of the track on my cds i got when i visited SA,ON ONE GOSPEL .
I do ask of their cds in music shops in my country ,you cant beleiev it the music shop had to buy more of it to their shop which you dont see stock most times because gOD HAD announced this group,
i hope to be in the next concert in sa.
i am really in love with the group.
they give room for the group growth ,a whole lot of soloist taking different songs.

Everytime i listen to them,i feel like going down on my knees and ask God for His forgiveness cause they coutinue blessing me everytime.Playing their music blesses me in a kind way that if everyone listen to them they’ll ask themselve if the life they are is worthit or do they need to go back to their creator who is always by our side and never lets us down like the world does.The track by the JC Boys ” For your love” will melt you away.We have His love but its hard to see.e.g you’ll never see you need new clothes if you don’t take out the ones you don’t wear.Almost doesn’t count one foot in the ground and the other in heaven.But listen to JC i feel one step at the time.THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BLESSING US AND I HOPE GOD MAKE YOU GROW EVEN HIGHER.

Hi i am a big fan of JC it has been years since i started listening 2 you guys. Each time i hear your songs my spirit is lifted, i was in a bad space last year n even tried 2 take my life. One particular song was in mind IN THE SHADOW OF YOUR WINGS. That song keep on cuming to me. With Gods grace i was saved from the pills i ate, i thank God for the song NGENA it made me realise that our father is still with me guiding me, protecting me and showing me the way always. I basicall grew up listening to Joyous Celebration from Holy Ground to Im yours I have watched and listen to them not only growing im music but also spiritually. yu can see the commitment and the passion for what these singers are doing not for the fame or fortune but to Glorify the name of the Most High and know that they have certainly reached out to the people and being a blessing to them.
