Controversial gospel singer Lundi Tyamara is sick and needs prayers from fans. His manager, Tshepo Dzimande confirmed to a Sunday newspaper that the “Umphefumulo wami” hit maker was admitted to South Rand Hospital in Rosettenvile, Johannesburg early last week.
“I can confirm that Lundi was in hospital last week. He was released after three days and is recovering at home,” said Dzimande.
A source at the hospital also said the multi-award winning singer was vomiting blood when he arrived at the hospital.
Once an emulated gospel musician, Lundi lost touch with many gospel music fans when he started making headlines for his allegedly wild behavior. He has previously made headlines for drug and alcohol abuse, sleeping with multiple partners, abusing women and attacking journalists. He was also the first gospel musician to win Metro’s Most Controversial Personality award.
But Lundi, 30, blames journalists for ruining his career. In August 2006, he told a Tonight journalist that he would retire at 30 because he was tired of the media. “I am tired. I want to retire when I’m 30. I want to go back to my home in Worcester and open up a business that has nothing to do with the music industry,” he said in an interview.
His latest album ‘Inkosi Iyayazi’, was met with mixed reviews last year, failing to win awards like most of his previous albums.

Lundi, if u read dis parts, I write from Ghana: You are so close to the Giver of life that He needs say nothing to you anymore. In Ur mouth He has ordained strength (praise). If u pay attention to what u sing u will be saved. If u do not, they will judge u!
I came to love ur music only a fortnight a go, yet I have spoken to people in ur country who are already pissed off with u. Your challenges have been great, I suppose peaking before you had developed character. If we have to lose u before ur time we will be counting off another tragedy (that is u go to hell). In any case if u get to heaven before ur time, I will seek permission to whip ur asrse, even there!
Take the Bible seriously. I am based in Zambia. I love you Lundi and felt sad when I heard you had gone astray in drugs and women. However, you can either cry out for help to God and to close mature friends or decide to defend your wrongs. however, in defending your wrongs only one thing exist in that scenario; total ruin. Much hope awaits you and I am praying for you. You still young and need strong servants of God closer to you. I trust you can seek guidance even from fellow artists like Benjamin Dube in humility. If he truly is a servant of God he shall embrace you. Take my advice dear and know we love you so much. For me, it is all about you being young in the walk with God and need counseling and strong spiritual help for holiness is obtained not through human struggle but strong faith in Christ. To attain that one only needs a developed life of word study and prayer. No human effort can bring about God’s purity. Stay blessed and reply to me please.
