Last month, we published an article about One Gospel’s national talent search and have been receiving many phone calls from aspiring musicians who are interested in auditioning.
This week we had the opportunity to speak with Dineo Mohale, one of the organisers of the talent search. In this interview, Mohale sheds light on some the most important things one has to know before attending – including venues, judges and prizes.
GL: What’s the motive behind this initiative?
DM: Our main objective is to unearth the next great gospel act by traveling to six townships in South Africa.
GL: Where can aspiring singers register?
DM: They need to register at www.dailysun.mobi and will receive an sms with a date and the exact venue of auditions in their regions. They can also watch the show, One Gospel on DStv channel 331 for more information.
GL: What’s the starting time for auditions?
DM: 1PM
GL: What are the prizes?
DM: We have exciting prizes, including cash, a recording deal from SouthStone Records, as well as an opportunity to perform at One Gospel’s debut concert in December.
GL: Who are the judges?
DM: There is one resident judge – Lionel Petersen but every week he will be joined by guest judges including Keke, Mthunzi Namba, Deborah Fraser, Dany V, and Gugu Zuma.
GL: Are there any particular rules that contenders must take note of?
DM: They need to register first before going to the venue and also need to be original. Anyone can enter.
GL: Can we expect this initiative next year again?
DM: That is the plan.

I am so hurt, today i went to Dobsonville:Zoe Bible Church, i found the place closed, a big tend next to a shoping complex. Is there any other Zoe Bible Church beside the one in Soweto? Do i still stand for a chance to come tommorow the 13th

I’m an artist and i’ve recorded 5 gospel albums, i don’t have a company or a recording deal. So i want to know whether i would be allowed to register or is for those who didn’t record at all. Should i be registered what is going to be needed from me?

To register for auditions, please get a copy of Daily Sun on Monday and Sunday Sun on Sunday and look for Shine competition details. You need to send your area + name to the sms code and you will get an sms with details of venue and time of auditions.

the reason for this note is to have a few clarifications on the auditions.
On behalf of my 17 year old baby sister who ’s been desiring to join one Gospel competitions, I would like to know , in a more detailed fashion how , when and what she has to do in order to be part of the Shine competition in Johannesburg.
