Shine hots up

One Gospel’s reality television competition Shine is holding auditions in Durban today and tomorrow, 09 and 10 September 2010.

Over 600 aspiring gospel singers from Durban are expected to perform in front of Shine judges John Ellis, Deborah Fraser and Gagasi FM’s Siya Mhlongo for a chance to progress to the next round of the acclaimed singing competition .

The judges have been touring the country for the past month, searching for the best young gospel musos South Africa has to offer. Last week, the judges chose Soweto-based singers Peter Lengweng and JOY to join the top 12 finalists who will battle it out in Jo’burg later this month. The pair outshined over 1500 contenders who auditioned at Kopanong hall.

The winner of the competition will walk away with a lucrative cash prize, a CD and DVD recording deal from SouthStone Records, as well as an opportunity to perform at One Gospel’s debut concert in December.

The final round will have 12 singers who will be representing Polokwane, Cape Town, Nelspruit, Pretoria and Jo’burg. Aspiring singers wanting to audition have to register first at www.dailysun.mobi and receive a confirmation SMS.

Shine airs on ONE Gospel, Channel 331 (DStv) every Sunday at 5pm .
